week 3 daily update day 1

Weighed in yesterday and I have lost 7lbs in weight, so that is half a stone in 2 weeks so just another 2 and half stone to go before May.
 
Breakfast today was small bowl of cereal which consisted of 3 potions with 1/3 of a pint of milk of my daily my daily allowance, had this with a black coffee.
 
Lunch I has a turkey salad wholemeal baguette with a packet of Quavers and a glass of water.
 
tea tonight will be chicken noodles and a nice pint of water.
 
Supper with be cup of tea and a couple of biscuits.
 
So very proud of myself today, not been one for doing much running or jogs, so been doing this couch to 5K app on my phone, but today I didn't use it and done things my own way, I walked 1/4 of the perimeter of the cricket ground and jogged a 1/4, walked a 1/4 and jogged a 1/4, I done this for 5 circuits and on the 6th circuit I managed the jog over half the way around and felt as if I had achieved something.
 
Although my back is now killing me, but there no pain with out gain.
 
On wards and up wards.

week 2 daily update day 6

Breakfast small bowl cereal and a black coffee

Snack breakaway bar and Coffee

Lunch low fat cheese of toast 2 slices, lunch box size of mixed currents and glass of water.

tea small piece of salmon steamed and green beans and pint of water

30 minutes exercise on v-fit stepper.

visited the nurse today blood pressure getting back to normal, been referred to the gym, also feel much better and more energetic since I have not been drinking alcohol.

Week 2 daily update day 5

Breakfast small bowl of Cereal with a glass of water.
 
Snack of a nice cup of coffee and a breakaway bar.
 
Tea steamed chicken, mushrooms and baked beans.
 
Supper 3 rich tea biscuits and a cup of tea.
 
Do a 30 minute work out on my v-fit stepper today.
 
I am noticing that my energy levels are a lot better and I have plenty of it, no longer going to have a sleep at about 4.30pm in the afternoons now, feel much better and feel more healthy.

Week 2 daily update day 4

Well had a bit of a lay in this morning, so didn't get up till about 11am.
 
Breakfast this morning was cereal with a black coffee.
 
Snack at about 1.30pm lunch box size of mixed currents and a breakaway bar with a cup of coffee.
 
Tea I had a small piece of stake done on the George Foreman with Mushrooms, half a tomato and Green Beans with a glass of water.
 
I done my 30 minutes Couch to 5k on my v-fit stepper.
 
Supper 3 rich tea biscuits and a cup of tea...

Week 2 daily update day 3

Day 3 of week 2, never thought I would get this far, but I have, been a bit of a quite day today.
 
For breakfast I had small bowl of Cereal and a pint of water.
 
Went for a nice long walk this morning about a 4 mile walk and what lovely weather it was.
 
Lunch today I had a turkey baguette and quavers with a pint of water and a lunch box size box of mixed sultanas'.
 
For Tea tonight Will be steamed chicken and steamed vegetables with a glass of water.
 
Will do my couch 2 5K on my V-Fit stepper tonight.
 
One thing I have noticed, is that I have more energy since I have stopped drinking Alcohol and this new regime that I am on, just 3 weeks ago at about 4/4.30pm in the afternoon I was so tired I would go to bed for a couple of hours, now though at this time of day I am full of energy and will feel 100% better, I can see a positive change in my life now and some positive changes within my thinking about food and drink and long may it continue, I have not ruled out drinking alcohol again especially at Christmas, but really I don't miss it.
 
This whole thing has been a very positive thing on my life.
 
Be strong and live life to the full, you never know what around the corner.

Week 2 daily update day 2

Today I had the following meals/snacks.
 
Breakfast small bowl of cereal and a glass of water.
 
Snack of Coffee and breakaway bar.
 
Tea will be homemade chicken and vegetable soup, 1 slice of bread, lunch box size box of mixed raisins.
 
Supper will be 2 rich tea biscuits and a cup of tea.
 
during the day I drink plenty of water, no wonder I am peeing so much, but that can't be a bad thing flushing the system out.
 
I have cut out beer and now drink blackcurrant or lime and soda water, this so far has helped me lose 3lbs in weight in one week. 
 

Exercise diary day 1

Well very pleased with myself today, went for a walk over to Barry Island to the cricket ground and done couch 2 5K, it was hard but I persevered with it.

I done a 5 minute brisk walk warm up.

60 second Jog.

90 minutes walk.

I ended up doing 15 minutes of it instead of the 20 minutes as my knee gave way and I had to finish the circuit but gone a 4 lap over the ground warm down.

I am a bit stiff now but feel great.

Week 2 daily update day 1

Well be very good today be cutting back on a lot of things and doing some exercise.
 
Breakfast small bowl of cereal and a pint of water. about 10.00am
 
Snack a breakaway bar they only have 99 calories, a cup of coffee and a lunch box size of mixed raisins. at about 12.15pm
 
Snack of 2 rich tea biscuits and a coffee, rich tea biscuits have very few calories in them even though they are Biscuits, I think it is 30 calories per biscuit.
 
For tea it is a jacket potato with baked beans and a pint of water and a low fat yoghurt for afters at 5.45pm
 
Supper a cup of tea with 2 rich tea biscuits before bed at about 11.45pm
 
Today I started using an app I have downloaded to my phone called Couch 2 5K how the app works is as follows:-
 
A brisk 5 minute warm up walk.
 
Then alternate a 60 seconds jogging and 90 seconds walking for up to a total of 20 minutes.
 
As it was raining to day I was un able to get over the cricket ground to do this so I had to use my v-fit stepper and it was hard work but I completed it.
 
The App is easy to use, when you have done your 5 minute walk, a ring sounds to tell you that your 60 second Jog starts and vice versa for the walking up to 20 minutes or 8 repartitions.
 
Would like to thank all my family and friends for the support they are giving me and to Hazel at Barry Communities First for running the course I ma doing, my aim is to lose 3 stone by the beginning of May, but if I lose more great, it is not before time.

Week 2 Knoflers Weight Loss Challenge


Well weighed in today and I have lost 3lb in weight this week very proud of myself been a tough and hard week but I am getting there.
 
The course I am doing with Barry Communities First is brilliant, it allows you to pace yourself and does not set you any targets, I is called Foodwise for Life, weight management.
 
Yes you count the calories, but you also eat in smaller portions and it gives you portion sizes as well.
 
Bread, Pasta, rice, Cereals & Potato's (5 to 14) portions, per day, 1 portion will consist of the following:-
 
1 slice of bread (Medium), 1/2 a Bread roll (Medium), 1/2 a pitta bread, 3 tablespoons of Cereal,
3 Crackers, 3 rich tea biscuits, 1 Small Potato, 2 heaped tablespoons rice/Pasta (cooked) or 1 OZ Uncooked. Ideally for a man 8 to 14 potions per day.
 
Milk & Dairy Foods (2 to 3) portions, per day, 1 portion will consist of the following:-
 
1/3 pint (200ml) Milk, 1 small pot Yoghurt/ Cottage Cheese/ Framage frais, 1 OZ (30g) Cheese (Small Matchbox Size), 2OZ (60) Light Cream/Soft Cheese.
 
Fruits & Vegetables (5 to 9) portions, per day, 1 portion will consist of the following:-
 
3 tablespoons Vegetables, Small Salad, 1 Fruit e.g. Apple Orange ect, 2 small fruits eg. Plums, 2 tablespoons tinned/stewed Fruit, 125ml (small glass) Fruit Juice, A handful of berries, cherries, grapes ect, 1 Tablespoon raisins/ 2-3 dried apricots, 1 large slice of fresh melon or pineapple.
 
 Meat, Fish, Chicken, Eggs, Nuts & Pulses (2 to 3) Portions per day, 1 portion will consist of the following:-
 
3-4 OZ (80g-110g) beef, pork, ham, liver, chicken, oily fish, 4-5OZ (110g-150g) white fish, (not batter), 2 eggs, 3 tablespoons baked beans/ 1 small can, 2 tablespoons (60g) nuts/nut products e.g. peanut butter, 3 tablespoons pulse based dish, 3-4 tablespoons of pules e.g. red kidney beans, butter beans, lentils or chick peas.
 
Fatty & Sugary Foods (0 to 5) portions per day, 1 portion will consist of the following :-
1 teaspoon butter/margarine/spread, 2 teaspoons low fat spread, 1 teaspoon oil/lard/dripping, 1 teaspoon mayonnaise/salad dressing, 2 teaspoons low fat dressing, 2 teaspoons of sugar.
 
Another change I have made by choice was cutting out alcohol, I now drink either blackcurrant and soda water or Lime and soda water. 
 
I will update this blog daily with a food diary so everyone can see what I am eating, if anyone would like some advice please feel free to leave a comment on the blog and I will try my best to answer them.

week 1

This is a Blog I have set up today to track my weight loss Challenge over the next few months I will post photo's every week of how I am going with this challenge.
 
It has been nearly a week since I started this challenge that I was set by a good friend Steve Oram, the challenge to lose 3 stone before May.
 
Last Tuesday 7th October I started Foodwise for Life in my attempt to lose this weight, there will be times when I will struggle but I have plenty of support from family and friends and they will keep me on the straight and narrow, Narrow well that's how I want to look at the end of it.
 
I have cut out alcohol, I am now drinking lime and soda water.
 
Cut down on my bread and over fatty things and I am eating plenty of fruit and veg.
 
Last week I weighed in at 21 st 63/4 lbs and at 44, I think it is time to lose some and it will also be better for my health in the long run.
 
This week I am going to take a walk over the cricket ground over the Island and start to walk a lap, and then try and run a lap, need to take it easy to start.
 
Well that's all for now, will up date tomorrow after my weigh in and once again everyone thank you for your support.
